THE WINE GEESE

The Irish, it seems, have always emigrated. Billy Munnelly of Best Bottles, who, for many years, was Rundles’ wine consultant, and James Morris, Rundles’ proprietor are but two (fairly recent) chips off an old block. However, the emigrants who went to continental Europe in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries – the “Wild Geese” – were special.

Here we pay homage to some of our countrymen by introducing a range of wines from the Irish Chateaux. These chateaux were founded by the “Wild Geese” – the Clarkes, Kirwans, Lynchs and Phelans – now affectionately known as the “Wine Geese”.
